This is the first basslabz podcast, comments and advise really appreciated.
Firstly I'll say that,
I've found it hard on the podsafe sites to find music I actually wanted to play have found myself playing lots of culprate and my own tunes and some stuff im not sure i woulda played if i had something else.
Now I could listen to culprate all day but you may not be able to so...
I am asking UNSIGNED artists to send me their tunes , genre is unimportant as long as its bassy (and preferably breakzy) and UNSIGNED!!
also don't forget to tell me about any gigs and new tracks etc.

where to begin?............
Ive been making music of some discription for as long as i can remember, i was in my first band by the time i was 11/12 and played my first gig at 13.
My first band went through many name changes (always begining with "a" for some reason) and line ups, but almost always in included my life long best freind and inspiration Sam Freeman (chai lounge/merfasmean).
The band seemed to disolve and over a couple of years i tried to get another band together but it never really worked, difficulties finding a suitible drummer and my obsesion with psychedelia - in all senses of the word - were probebly the reason for this.
At 16 I joined an Access To Music (ATM) course at warrington collegiate where i started my next project (worthy of being called a band) Chapter 24.
Chapter 24 started out as "Kool aid" (i was still in my psychedelics faze) and consisted of myself and fellow student Mike Garvey and some other people , of whom i forget the names. We were essentially the left overs from the class , (you had to join a band as part of the course) luckely within 2/3 weeks the line ups of most the bands in the class had changed leaving me and mike the oppertunity to hand pick musicians. After that , the focus of the band changed to a more modern grungy sound and we became Chapter 24. We were fairly succesfull on the course and reprasented our collage at the north west regional festival. Ending our set with our version of Led Zeps Rock and roll which seemed to have become our main attraction.
During this time in collage i re-started collaborations with Sam Freeman, this time on an electronic tip. Sam had been using sequencers in school and i had just been introduced to them at collage (it is at this point that i started to change my musical views and sam became an huge inspiration). We started the project "Internal Conflict" in 2000 after hearing a friends demo and saying "we can do that!". Our sound wasnt focused, there were no rules. That was kind of the point, we went from breakbeats with dirty guitars to full on hammond solos and rythmic filtered white noise. At the same time me and sam were learning recording and production techniques. Sam recorded chapter 24s first demo at st helens collage (2000/2001).
Internal conflict is an on going project with many names but the essential es

Culprate Dubstep

Monday Nov 03, 2008

Monday Nov 03, 2008

Culprate I have known about for a while, I found him on myspace.Shocking and often jarring (making me slightly confused before finding my way back to the beat), I immediately loved his tracks.Pretty soon He did a remix of My track "Tapped Cat".Producing excellent experimental drum and bass and breakcore tracks he has recently switched to dubstep. His sound transfers perfectly and his dubstep is just as experimental (if not more so).The style seems to suite him better and is getting him some attention.Top tracks to look out for,"Japan RMX""Unknown dub""Jedi RMX""Tapped cat RMX""Sepsis"
